Amber Simpson, PhD


Amber is an international business leader with nearly fifteen years of experience in strategy, business development, operations and management. As a businesswoman, she understands the strong correlation between quality educational options and the social and economic sustainability of communities. Her international expertise has deepened her appreciation of the importance of environmental stewardship for global sustainability. Thus, she has combined her strong business acumen, community leadership, commitment to sustainability and passion for K-12 education to create Vernare Learning, a nonprofit education management organization.


A native of Saint Louis, MO, Amber has chosen this city to locate the headquarters of Vernare Learning and open her first series of schools. Amber firmly believes that all children can achieve high levels of academic performance. The students and teachers of Vernare Learning schools will be held to the expectation that academic excellence is the standard. Further, she believes that it truly takes a village to raise each child; thus, the campuses of Vernare Learning schools will provide "green" spaces where all stakeholders in the community--students, families, neighbors, business owners and community leaders--can collaborate to create sustainable neighborhoods that are environmentally conscious, safe, clean and healthy.  


Amber is a MO Certified Teacher (K-12 French) and has earned her School Leader License. She currently serves as the Board President of the Missouri Charter Public School Association. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language & Literature and International Business from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned her MBA from St. Louis University, a second Masters of Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, plus an Education Specialist degree from the same university. She completed her PhD in Education Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Missouri--St. Louis.
